A Production supervisor (Group Lead) is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Galway based client. The Group Leader for the Operations team reporting to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will ensure that the manufacturing process is managed to meet production targets while maintaining the highest quality standards, as well as achieving continuous cost reduction targets by leading a group within the manufacturing organization.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Achieve production, Safety and Quality targets and establish standard work. Ensure that the standard work is carried out, improved, and problems that occur are eliminated at root cause
- Maintain efficiency of assigned area with respect to manpower requirements, productivity, and overtime levels. Actively demonstrate innovation with respect to improvements including productivity and cost improvement initiatives and programs.
- Determine the delivery point, layout and presentation of all direct materials, establish appropriate line feed quantities and frequencies. Devise and document, with team members, method, layout and systems to deliver, be able to establish targets to track and monitor.
- Ensure compliance with all aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental issues, including management of the 5S program (auditing, reporting and issue resolution) in assigned areas.
- Identify, measure and display all performance criteria and cell metrics. Make decisions and solve problems in a working environment that deals with change, use problem solving techniques in safeguarding and improving key cell metrics.
- Work with group members to develop problem solving techniques and abilities within the group and to generate ideas and implement continuous improvement actions.
- Determine manpower planning & forecasting in conjunction with HR, involved directly in the recruitment of team members and establish a T&D plan for new hires.
- Co-ordinate the allocation of resources to ensure that daily outputs are achieved, as well as vacation management, and absence management and administration of systems to capture this information.
- Design, improve & distribute the contents of work assignments. Ensure area procedures and work instructions accurately reflect work activities.
- Develop a strong team-working environment through cooperation, respect and fairness promoting positive Employee Engagement.
- Establish two way communication daily with team members. Give feedback on team/group performances on issues including production schedule, quality, cost initiatives, and team performances against objectives. Listen, inform, and give feedback on corrective action.
- Ensure Performance Reviews are completed during first year of Employment. Carry out regular Development conversations with team members and work with HR to ensure development objectives are captured and a plan put in place to achieve the objectives.
- Manage grievance and disciplinary issues with the support of HR as they arise.
- Together with Training Specialist(s) to identify new training requirements as a result of new product integration, and/or ongoing training requirements through training needs analysis, and the development of training plans.
- Control, maintain and monitor all machinery and all activities/people involved in the operation and maintenance of the machinery. Establish budget for all consumables.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years' experience as Production Supervisor or similar
- 3rd level qualification in business, engineering or similar
- Profound experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
- Good practical experience with MS Office
- Experience collaborating with unions a distinct advantage
- Strong organizational and leadership skills٫ together with a results-driven approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and an efficient problem solver
