Director of Operations
New, permanent job based in a growing medical device company in Limerick.
About Your New Job
- Take full ownership of day-to-day manufacturing operations, leading staff and reporting directly to the CEO as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Lead the commissioning and operationalisation a facility, including equipment installation, process validation, staffing, and production transfer.
- Drive capacity planning and scheduling across 24/5 operations, ensuring production targets and on-time delivery (OTD) commitments are met for multiple customers.
- Build and develop a high-performing manufacturing team and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Oversee end-to-end supply chain management, from raw material procurement to logistics, with a strong focus on commercial impact, margin, yield, and scrap reduction.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, and ISO 14001 standards, maintaining audit readiness and a right-first-time quality culture.
- Champion Lean manufacturing, automation, digital manufacturing (MES/ERP integration), and Industry 4.0 adoption across both facilities.
What Skills You Need
- 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing operations leadership, with direct accountability for output, team performance, and operational KPIs.
- A Toolmaker background is required for this position.
- Proven track record in high-precision, regulated manufacturing environments (orthopaedic implants, aerospace, medical devices, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience in scaling operations, commissioning new facilities or equipment, and managing rapid growth.
- Strong commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of backlog health, margin, yield, OTD, and P&L impact.
- Hands-on leadership style, with a background in toolmaking, machining, or precision engineering highly desirable.
- Excellent people management skills, with a focus on team development, talent retention, and constructive communication.
- Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma, ERP/MES systems, and digital manufacturing tools is advantageous.
