Design Automation Engineer

A Design Automation Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our multinational medical device client in Galway for an initial 12-month contract in an onsite role.  

The Design Automation Engineer will support troubleshooting and problem resolution on automated manufacturing lines.

THE ROLE:

• Investigate equipment downtime and assist with root cause analysis.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new or modified automation equipment.
• Provide hands-on support during hypercare or production ramp-up phases.
• Assist with software, controls, and system-level debugging.
• Support integration of electrical, mechanical, hardware, and software components.
• Contribute to equipment improvement, standardisation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Support validation, verification, and change control activities as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree L8 in Engineering/Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years in a relevant industry.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and machine documentation.
• Experience with commissioning, testing, and equipment support activities.
