Commissioning Engineer - Pharma Process Equipment
Location: Ireland (ideally Munster region, but flexible for the right candidate)
Salary: €60,000+ DOE
Travel: Extensive travel across Ireland, UK, Europe and occasional international assignments
Overview
Our client is a leading supplier of pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical process equipment and services. They are seeking an experienced, hands-on Commissioning & Qualification Field Service Engineer to support customer projects across Ireland, the UK, Europe and occasionally further afield.
This role will suit an engineer with a strong electrical, instrumentation, mechanical or electro-mechanical background who enjoys working directly on customer sites and has experience commissioning, validating, calibrating and troubleshooting process equipment within regulated environments.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring equipment and process systems are installed, commissioned, qualified and operating in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission and qualify pharmaceutical process equipment and utility systems.
- Execute IQ/OQ protocols, cycle development activities and customer training.
- Perform commissioning, calibration and validation activities on-site.
- Troubleshoot equipment and provide technical support to customers and colleagues.
- Participate in FATs, SATs and customer project meetings.
- Complete project documentation including reports, validation records, expenses and timesheets.
- Prepare and manage servicing, calibration and spare parts documentation.
- Support preventive maintenance and after-sales service activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and design qualification activities.
- Ensure company equipment and test instrumentation are maintained and used responsibly.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal technical teams.
- Provide support and guidance to junior engineers where required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Qualification in Engineering, Science, Validation or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical background with both practical and theoretical knowledge.
- Hands-on commissioning experience within regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience executing validation protocols including SAT, IQ and OQ.
- Experience calibrating, testing and troubleshooting process equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation including:
- P&IDs
- General Arrangement Drawings (GAs)
- Electrical and Wiring Diagrams
- Process Specifications
- Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Legal right to work in Ireland and the UK.
Desirable
- Experience with autoclaves, sterilisation systems, clean utilities or pharmaceutical process equipment.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, control systems and network configuration.
- Experience using electronic validation systems such as E-Val Pro or similar.
- Aseptic filling equipment experience.
- Utilities, water systems or clean process equipment experience.
- Experience working within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
