PRACTICE ACCOUNTANT – ROSCOMMON - ONSITE

An established professional services firm in County Roscommon, who specialises in supporting SME and entrepreneurial clients across Ireland, is looking to add to their team. This practice combines long‑standing reputation with modern, technology‑driven delivery and a fantastic work life balance.  The team advises ambitious business owners on tax, compliance, and commercial growth, earning trusted‑advisor status through accuracy, transparency, and responsiveness. You will be responsible for the preparation of year-end accounts, preparation of corporation tax returns, management This is suitable for someone living in/close to Co. Roscommon, who can work onsite 5-days per week (non-negotiable), though with a shortened working day (if preferred/pro-rata’d) as a trade-off.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of SME and owner‑managed business clients with end‑to‑end responsibility.
  • Prepare and review statutory year‑end accounts across limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
  • Complete corporation tax (CT1) and personal tax (Form 11) returns accurately and on time.
  • Provide hands‑on accounting support using Xero and other cloud‑based systems.
  • Deliver periodic management accounts and performance reports to client directors.
  • Interpret financial results and advise clients on compliance and profitability improvement.
  • Conduct technical reviews to ensure accounting and tax standards are consistently applied.
  • Liaise directly with Revenue, CRO, and external advisors on client matters.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and workflow efficiency within the portfolio.
  • Support junior team members with technical queries and quality‑checking deliverables.
  • Contribute to maintaining robust, client‑first practices as the firm scales.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical grounding in Irish accounting and tax compliance.
  • Proven track record managing a client portfolio within an Irish practice environment.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to advise and influence SME owners.
  • Proficient in Xero, cloud accounting platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Skilled in preparing corporation tax and income tax filings from trial balance.
  • Commercially aware with sound judgment and attention to accuracy.
  • Capable of working independently while upholding collaborative standards.
  • Comfortable managing multiple deadlines with discretion and professionalism.
  • Committed to continuous professional development and regulatory best practice.
