Assistant Engineering Manager - County Louth.
Key Purpose of role:
Manage all aspects of maintenance operations to maximise plant availability whilst ensuring that all works are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
Key tasks & Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership in improving safety awareness and employing best practice throughout a heavy industry site.
• Manage the maintenance team consisting of mechanical, electrical maintenance supervisors, planners and trades people.
• Identify and develop talent within the maintenance team and enhance their leadership and technical skills via training, coaching and experiential learning.
• Maintain a highly motivated team in achieving a preventative/predictive orientated maintenance system.
• Manage various maintenance related projects and plan major shutdowns.
• Manage maintenance contractors, plant hire resources and associated costs.
• Be fully informed of all relevant agreements with Trade Unions. Act in accordance with them and participate as appropriate in the resolution of any disputes using orderly procedures.
• Attend departmental meetings.
• Maintain close and effective liaison with other departments particularly about planning and co-ordination of operation activities.
• Plan and manage overhauls.
• Manage maintenance related projects from design through to installation
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager in their absence.
Interested applicants should have:
• A level 8 or 9 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Must understand engineering and business principles.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office.
• At least 5 years’ experience, ideally in a similar role/working environment
• Proven technical skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Capable of working on own initiative and within a team
• A work history of contributing and adding value to overall performance.
