Financial Accountant - County Westmeath.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company's financial records, supporting the monthly and annual reporting processes, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements, and assisting with financial controls and process improvements.
The role plays a key part in delivering timely financial information to management and supporting the wider finance function in achieving business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts in line with reporting deadlines.
• Complete month-end and year-end close activities.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Analyse financial results and investigate variances against budgets and forecasts.
• Support the preparation of board and management reporting packs.
Statutory Accounts & Compliance:
• Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support external audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit queries.
• Liaise with tax advisors regarding corporation tax, VAT, and other regulatory filings.
Financial Control:
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Monitor accounting processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial transactions.
• Support internal control reviews and risk management activities.
Treasury & Cash Management:
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and monitoring.
• Support management of banking relationships and treasury activities.
• Monitor working capital and key financial metrics.
Business Support:
• Partner with operational and departmental stakeholders on financial matters.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
• Participate in finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Interested applicants should have:
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles.
• Experience preparing management accounts and statutory accounts.
• Excellent balance sheet reconciliation skills.
• Understanding of VAT, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP and accounting system (SAP is very desirable)

Our client seeks a newly qualified Accountant, experienced ideally in SAP, with at least 3 years' experience in a financial accounting or similar role.
A strong understanding of month-end and year-end accounting processes.
