Operations Manager

Position Overview:

An exciting opportunity awaits for an Operations Manager at our client's Naas facility. Responsibilities:

  • The Operations Manager will lead by example, fostering a culture of focus, respect, and motivation within the team to achieve organizational goals.
  • They will be tasked with medium-term resource forecasting and short-term production planning.
  • Responsibilities include forecasting requirements, budget preparation, expenditure scheduling, variance analysis, and corrective action initiation.
  • Continual review and implementation of strategies to enhance throughput, productivity, and service levels will be key.
  • The incumbent will spearhead the presentation and execution of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring ongoing review and development of all resources will be essential.
  • Upholding and promoting adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental operating procedures will be a priority.
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders to meet cost and service measures will be necessary.
  • The Operations Manager will develop and implement a holistic human resources plan.
  • Performance monitoring, review, and management, including addressing attendance and absenteeism, will be part of the role.
  • Proactive management of payroll and cost budgets will be crucial.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness to evolving business needs will be expected.
  • Providing operations insights and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews will be required.
  • Effective communication of customer issues with the operations team and devising strategies for enhancing the customer experience will be necessary.
  • Fostering a culture of dignity and respect among employees will be paramount.
  • Ensuring efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments will be vital.
  • Overseeing on-site costs and budgets will be part of the role.
  • Close collaboration with key suppliers, including those providing chemicals and engineering solutions, will be essential.

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will hold a degree-level qualification or equivalent, with a preference for an operational or technical background.
  • Demonstrated experience in production management and technical aspects of processes will be necessary.
  • Proficiency in performance review methods, staff training, development, and recognition will be required.
  • Familiarity with recruitment, selection, training, scheduling, coaching, delegation, mentoring, counseling, and disciplinary procedures will be essential.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures will be important.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting will be required.
  • Certification in Lean training will be advantageous.
  • Strong leadership skills are essential.
  • Ability to forecast requirements, prepare budgets, and analyze variances effectively will be necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • A proven track record of implementing operational improvements will be crucial.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, quality, and environmental operating procedures is essential.

Skills:

  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills are imperative.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including advanced spreadsheet creation, will be necessary.
  • Strong written communication skills, including report, proposal, policy, and procedure preparation, will be essential.
  • Proficiency in interviewing and public speaking will be advantageous.
  • Strong time management, planning, and organizing abilities are required.
  • Competence in critical thinking, problem-solving, consistency, and fairness will be vital.
  • Proficiency in conflict management and decision-making will be necessary.
