Senior Line Equipment Technician - Galway.
This is a fixed evening shift position (15:30-00:00 Monday – Thursday and 14:15-20:15 Friday).
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Senior Line Equipment Technician is a key function in the successful operation of the manufacturing line. Their function is to be the SME for equipment primarily and support processes within the manufacturing area. The role requires the technician to be an ever-present support to the area, providing value and technical expertise with equipment and process issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead formal Root Cause Analysis investigations for persistent or high-impact equipment failures, moving beyond day-to-day troubleshooting to implement permanent, systemic engineering fixes.
• Take primary ownership of downtime data analysis for the line (shift) presenting weekly trends and action plans to the Senior Engineer and Equipment Engineer.
• Develop concept design and prototyping of jigs, fixtures, and production tooling.
• Execute PM's on time and improve when found deficient, to ensure optimal equipment performance at all times.
• Lead improvement and line stability projects related to equipment, and support unit cost reduction initiatives at request of Senior Engineer.
• Ensure tooling including mandrels/trim fixtures etc. are available to the line when required and are in optimal working order and fit for purpose.
• Ensure and maintain a sufficient Kanban and robust process for consumable equipment spares.
• Support onboarding of new technician hires as required and provide technical guidance to production team.
• Be fully competent in manufacturing product processes through all work steps. Support day-to-day process and line management.
• Continually review the manufacturing process for improper application of work methods and or equipment settings. Execute daily equipment checks to the highest standard.
• Communicate promptly, clearly and effectively at all times, to the Line Lead & Line Support Technician with regard to equipment and process issues with a clear plan for resolution that is data driven. Escalate appropriately.
• Support for maintaining accurate up-to-date documentation for LHR’s, NPI’s, drawings and PM documentation.
Qualification and experience requirements:
• Minimum Level 7 in a technical discipline.
• Minimum five years’ experience in medical device manufacturing or similar environment as an equipment or process technician.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' automated equipment maintenance experience in a regulated environment.
• Electrical fault-finding experience is essential.
• Ability to prototype and 3D print ideas before committing resources to machining tooling.
• Industrial experience in medical device is required, with demonstrated automated equipment maintenance experience.
• Ability to find complex machine faults through experience with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Continuous improvement mindset is a must and always work towards this goal in a structured manner.
• Highly motivated with good initiative and strong work ethic.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages and drawing packages (SolidWorks, AutoCAD etc.)
• Must have technical report writing skills.
