About Your New Job as an Executive Officer, Policy Officer
- Information Gathering: Assist in gathering and analyzing information about developments in law, policy, and practice relating to children’s rights in Ireland.
- Monitoring and Reviewing: Contribute to monitoring and reviewing national legislation and public policy developments affecting children, including preparing updates.
- Research and Briefing: Conduct research on issues relating to children’s rights and prepare briefing notes to inform the Policy team.
- Public Engagement: Handle queries and requests for information from the public and others on matters relating to children’s rights.
- International Collaboration: Support engagement with UN and European monitoring mechanisms and contribute to work with European and British networks.
- Team Projects: Assist with joint projects with other teams and manage knowledge and information sharing within the Policy team.
What Skills You Need as an Executive Officer, Policy Officer
- Educational Background: First or second class primary honours degree (Level 8 NFQ) in law, sociology, social policy, or political science.
- Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience of children’s rights, international and European human rights standards, and national legislation and public policy in Ireland.
- Research Skills: Proven experience in undertaking policy and research projects, sourcing, analyzing, evaluating, and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and strong IT skills.
Desirable Skills for n Executive Officer, Policy Officer
- Research Software: Experience using research software.
- Initiative and Teamwork: Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Project Management: Project management skills and experience working across organizational functions.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Experience engaging effectively with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to change.
