Our client a new start-up IT Technologies company working in the exciting space of fast growing IT technologies and solutions are expanding rapidly and now require an experienced Linux Administrator to take a major role as a "cloud engineer" in an exciting large scale data project (a specialized search engine, 1.5 TB Ram, 180 Systems, Hadoop, Hbase, and Semantic technologies).

Job Description:

Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager the role will involve the following:

  • day to day administration of a Linux based large scale data project utilising large scale cluster computing and cloud deployments.
  • staying up to date with the development of major cloud infrastructure middleware.
  • automation of processes.
Requirements:

Degree qualified in related discipline plus a minimum of 3/5 years’ experience of system administration.

Linux system administration in a production environment.

Experience managing and tuning a Java web application based service.

Shell scripting.

Experience with some standard system monitoring tools including Zabbix, Nagios, Ganglia and Splunk.

Ability to work on your own and set your own goals.

Experience with automated system deployment tools like Puppet, Chef and Fabric.

Experience tuning Java Web applications.

Experience with load balancing technologies.

Experience with configuring and managing HP Procurve network switches.

Familiarity with the semantic web and triple store technologies.
