A Project Manager is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Kildare based is a specialist critical infrastructure and digital engineering company. This is a permanent position. You will be leading the planning, engineering design review, and construction of our telecommunication infrastructure projects. This role bridges the gap between telecom deployments (fiber/wireless networks) and heavy civil utility infrastructure.
THE ROLE
- Manage the full project lifecycle for telecom infrastructure deployments (FTTH/FTTP networks, trenching, micro-trenching, directional drilling, and small cell pole installations).
- Review and approve civil engineering designs, structural calculations, reinstatement specs, and drawing sets before submission to municipal authorities.
- Develop detailed project schedules, critical path methods (CPM), and resource allocation plans.
- Analyse conflicting utility data (GIS maps, radar surveys) to design safe alignments around existing power, gas, water, and deep sewer infrastructure.
- Act as the primary engineering liaison with municipal public works departments, transit authorities, and external utility companies.
- Oversee structural integrity assessments when installing telecom equipment on existing utility poles, bridges, or transit assets.
- Oversee the engineering, design, and regulatory approval of complex Traffic Management (TM) and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans.
- Liaise with highway authorities to secure necessary right-of-way (ROW) permits, lane closures, and full road diversion orders.
- Ensure all temporary traffic setups, pedestrian diversions, and construction staging areas comply with highway geometry, capacity limits, and safety standards.
- Manage civil engineering contractors, ensuring all excavation, backfilling, and concrete reinstatement meet strict municipal and industry engineering specifications.
- Enforce rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on site to mitigate the risks of utility strikes or structural failures
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related engineering discipline).
- Experience: 3- 5+ years of experience combining civil engineering/construction oversight with active project management in the Telecommunications or Utilities sectors.
- Deep understanding of civil construction methodologies (directional drilling, open trenching, utility asset protection) and road design/traffic management standards.
