About the Role
Our client, a leading medical device manufacturer, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the transfer of an innovative vascular-based medical device into commercial manufacturing.
This newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in new product introduction, manufacturing scale-up, process validation, and operational excellence within a highly regulated medical device environment.
Reporting to the Engineering Leadership Team, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the successful transfer of products, processes, equipment, and documentation from development into full-scale production.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the transfer of new products and technologies into manufacturing.
- Develop and implement robust manufacturing processes and process controls.
- Lead and support process validation activities including IQ, OQ and PQ.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise manufacturing performance.
- Troubleshoot process and production issues using structured problem-solving techniques.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Automation and R&D teams to support manufacturing objectives.
- Support the introduction of new technologies and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, quality, regulatory and health & safety requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments, change controls and non-conformance investigations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and validation records.
- Contribute to the successful launch and commercialisation of new products.
Requirements
- Honours Degree (Level 8) in Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years' Manufacturing Engineering experience within the Medical Device, Life Sciences or Healthcare sector.
- Experience supporting manufacturing processes within a regulated environment.
- Strong validation experience, including IQ/OQ/PQ.
- Knowledge of process development, continuous improvement and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional project teams.
Desirable Experience
- New Product Introduction (NPI) or Product Transfer experience.
- Catheter-based, vascular, cardiovascular, neurovascular or minimally invasive device manufacturing experience.
- Experience with laser welding, precision assembly or advanced manufacturing processes.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
