A rare opportunity to lead and scale a newly established Energy Operations & Maintenance business at a pivotal stage of growth.
The Director is tasked with the overall leadership, performance, safety, and commercial success of a newly formed Thermal O&M business. This role ensures the reliable operation and maximum availability of thermal generation assets,
while maintaining statutory compliance. The Director is responsible for executing a strategic roadmap to expand into next-generation technologies, including battery storage (BESS), solar PV, CHP, hydrogen-ready systems, hybrid energy solutions and technology plus energy O&M.
Role
This is a high-impact leadership role with full responsibility for:
Operational performance across thermal generation assets
Commercial success and full P&L ownership
Building a scalable O&M platform across multiple energy technologies
Leading the transition from traditional thermal operations to a diversified, future-focused energy business
You will play a critical role in defining strategy, building capability, and establishing the organisation as a market-leading O&M provider.
Key Responsibilities
Lead safe, compliant, and high-performing plant operations
Deliver contractual KPIs across availability, reliability, and efficiency
Own commercial performance, including contracts, margins, and growth strategy
Build and lead a high-calibre, multi-disciplinary engineering team
Act as senior interface with clients, regulators, and key stakeholders
Drive expansion into renewable and hybrid energy technologies
We are seeking a proven senior leader with:
- Extensive leadership experience in thermal generation operations (gas turbine, CHP, steam plant, diesel/recip engines, CCGT, biomass, WtE, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of high-energy equipment, such as boilers, turbines, generators, pressure systems, emissions controls, and water/steam cycles.
- Familiarity with energy transition technologies, including BESS, PV, CHP, hybrid systems, and hydrogen readiness.
- Proven P&L ownership and a strong commercial understanding of O&M contracts.
- Experience leading complex, multi-site technical teams.
- Demonstrated safety leadership within regulated environments (COMAH, IED, environmental permitting)
