Senior Electronics Engineer - Limerick.
Job Description:
In this role, you will focus on the design, development, and testing of hardware electronics, including analog and digital circuitry and complex PCB assemblies. You will collaborate closely with engineering, quality, regulatory, and customer-facing teams to deliver innovative, compliant, and high-performance solutions.
As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will be crucial in advancing both new and existing hardware development initiatives from feasibility concept through to implementation. This position focuses on the design, development, and testing of complex electronic systems, including analog and digital circuitry, PCB assemblies, and cable harnesses. You will lead circuit-level design activities such as architecture planning, component selection, schematic entry, and board bring-up, while ensuring seamless integration of hardware into broader system architectures. Your expertise in AC/DC and DC/DC converters, power management, and 3-phase AC systems will be essential in delivering robust and high-performance solutions. Additionally, you will support compliance with international standards (UL, IEC, FDA, CE/EMC) through rigorous testing and documentation, including EMC testing, ESD, transient, and radiated emissions evaluations.
Collaboration is central to this role, requiring close coordination with multi-functional teams in software, mechanical design, and systems engineering to align with project timelines and budgets. You will contribute to firmware development in embedded environments using communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN, and collaborate with hardware peripherals, including sensors and motor drivers. Proficiency in electrical drawing tools like SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical is expected, along with a strong understanding of design validation processes, including FMEA, technical reviews, and test protocol execution. Your contributions will directly impact the delivery of innovative, compliant, and high-quality products.
Main responsibilities will include:
• Actively participate in the new and existing product development efforts from concepts to implementation
• Drive circuit level hardware design phases including architecture and design, component selection, schematic entry, board bring-up and integration of complex printed circuit board and cable assemblies into systems/instruments.
• Experience of EMC testing including Immunity Testing, Capacitive Voltage Emissions, Current Probe Emissions, ESD Testing, Transient Testing, Radiated Emissions Testing
• Cable harness, power management, 3 phase AC systems
• Experience in AC/DC, DC/DC convertors.
• Experience developing firmware using Communication protocols - I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc in an embedded environment.
• Effectively work with cross-functional teams, including software, mechanical design and system engineering, aligning with the schedule and budget of the project through different phases of the product lifecycle.
• Have experience with the interfacing of hardware peripherals like sensors, motor drivers, etc
• Have experience with electrical drawings packages like SolidWorks Electrical, Eplan, AutoCAD Electrical, etc
• Support project teams in general activities related to ongoing product design & development.
• Evaluate and implement designs to ensure that all agency requirements (UL, IEC, FDA) are being met throughout the design process.
• Apply tools like FMEA to determine and document root cause of product's system or component failure.
• Generate design specifications, test protocols, execute testing and associated test reports.
• Participate in technical design reviews to ensure electrical design integrity and safety are achieved.
• Develop and implement test procedures to verify design operation and compliance to international standards e.g. CE/EMC.
Interested applicants should have:
• Level 8 Engineering Degree with 5+ years' experience as an Electronics Engineer, testing circuit components.
• Strong digital and analog circuit design background that includes: microprocessors, analog circuitry for theoretical analysis, circuit level, board level simulation, and experience with building blocks for modular systems, Labview, and strong design skills and tools for schematic capture, board layout, and simulation are all advantages.
• PCB design and integration
• EMC testing (Immunity, Emissions, ESD, Transient, Radiated)
• Power systems: AC/DC, DC/DC converters, 3-phase AC
• Embedded firmware development (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)
• Hardware peripheral interfacing (sensors, motor drivers)
• Electrical CAD tools (Solidworks Electrical, Eplan, AutoCAD Electrical)
• Compliance knowledge (UL, IEC, FDA, CE/EMC)
Engineering Process & Tools:
• Design lifecycle management
• FMEA and root cause analysis
• Test protocol development and execution
• LabVIEW and simulation tools
