Role Summary

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex mechanical, electrical and energy infrastructure projects within industrial environments.

This role requires a highly organised and technically capable professional who can manage multidisciplinary project teams, coordinate contractors and stakeholders, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from concept and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout, supporting the delivery of impactful energy performance and sustainability outcomes for industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Lead the delivery of multiple energy efficiency, infrastructure and decarbonisation projects across industrial facilities.
  • Oversee all project phases including planning, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed schedules, budgets and scope.
  • Drive effective project governance and performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, equipment suppliers and internal engineering teams.
  • Facilitate project meetings and communicate progress to key stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with clients to ensure successful project outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and resolve issues proactively.

Programme & Resource Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and resource plans.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources across multiple disciplines.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Optimise resource utilisation to support efficient project delivery.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Prepare and manage project budgets.
  • Track project costs and manage change control processes.
  • Ensure robust financial control throughout project delivery.
  • Work closely with finance and commercial teams to monitor project performance and profitability.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
  • Lead quality assurance activities throughout project execution.
  • Support commissioning and validation activities where required.
  • Ensure adherence to client-specific requirements and industry best practices.

Risk Management

  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Maintain project risk registers and contingency plans.
  • Escalate critical risks where appropriate and develop corrective actions.
  • Promote a proactive approach to risk management across project teams.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Prepare project reports, dashboards and executive summaries.
  • Track key project metrics and performance indicators.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting and project delivery skills.
  • Experience managing complex engineering or infrastructure projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects successfully in fast-paced environments.

Technical Acumen

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within industrial, utilities or manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency, sustainability and decarbonisation technologies.
  • Experience overseeing technically complex projects and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead project teams and drive collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and site management practices.
  • Experience with risk assessments, method statements and contractor management.
  • Commitment to promoting a safe working culture.

Procurement & Contract Management

  • Experience managing procurement activities, contractors and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and commercial project controls.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and project deliverables effectively.

Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and commercial challenges.
  • Practical and results-oriented approach to project delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years' project management experience within energy, industrial, utilities, engineering or capital project environments.
  • Professional certification such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of energy systems, sustainability initiatives and decarbonisation technologies.
  • Experience working with industrial clients in sectors such as manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food & beverage, medical devices, utilities or data centres is highly advantageous.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
