EHS Manager – Manufacturing
Are you an experienced EHS professional ready to take ownership of safety, sustainability, and compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are partnering with a growing and globally connected pharmaceutical manufacturer seeking an EHS Manager to lead and shape their Environmental, Health & Safety strategy. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will drive safety culture, influence operations, and play a key part in continuous improvement across the organisation. This is a fully onsite role based in the West of Ireland, offering strong visibility with senior leadership and the opportunity to make a real difference.
The Opportunity
This is more than a compliance role. You will be responsible for leading, developing, and embedding best-in-class EHS practices across a complex manufacturing environment. You will work closely with site leadership, operations, and external bodies to ensure the highest standards of safety and environmental performance.
You will also play a key role in developing your team, improving systems, and driving initiatives that enhance both employee wellbeing and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and drive the company’s EHS strategy, aligning with business goals and continuous improvement initiatives
- Own site-wide EHS compliance, audits, and safety programmes
Maintain and enhance the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 - Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organisation through a proactive risk management approach
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing EHS team
- Oversee occupational health programmes, promoting wellbeing and proactive health initiatives
- Manage emergency response planning and ensure readiness through regular testing
- Act as the key contact for regulatory bodies, audits, and external stakeholders
- Drive incident reporting, root cause analysis, and preventative actions
- Develop and roll out EHS training and communication programmes across the business
- Ensure compliance with chemical safety and dangerous goods regulations
- Oversee contractor safety and ensure adherence to site standards
- Support sustainability and ESG initiatives and reporting
- Provide clear EHS performance reporting to senior leadership
Key Skills and Experience Required:
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in EHS, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in a regulated environment such as pharmaceutical or GMP manufacturing is highly desirable
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, develop, and influence teams
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, compliance frameworks, and risk management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience working with chemical safety and industrial safety systems
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability
Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on when required
Qualifications Required:
- Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Recognised Occupational Health & Safety qualification
