The Team

EirGrid Group is at the forefront of innovation in the energy industry, enabling the transition towards a low-carbon, technology-enabled smart future.  To do this we must develop our infrastructure. “Engaging for the Better Outcomes for All” is a fundamental key pillar of our transformation of the power system. The Public Engagement team is responsible for the development and implementation of our overall approach to engagement on our transmission projects with communities, landowners, local government, local stakeholders and consenting bodies.

Job Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity with the Public Engagement team for a focussed, resilient, and motivated Senior Engagement Specialist to support the delivery of our Community Benefit Funds across onshore and offshore projects. As part of this role, you will:

  • Scope and cost the provision of Community Benefit Funds as part of a multidisciplinary team,
  • Coordinate the delivery of Community Benefit Funds across multiple grid development projects,
  • Manage Community Benefit Fund budgets,
  • Evaluate and report on performance of Community Benefit Funds,
  • Procure and assure external support,
  • Proactively identify communication issues and develop plans to address,
  • Assist in the implementation of the company’s enhanced approach to consultation,
  • Assist in the development and delivery of our engagement strategy,
  • Manage and attend engagement events and initiatives,
  • Communicate effectively to customers and business stakeholders, (including senior management team), via meetings, presentations and reports,
  • Assist in the development of a community engagement plan and maintaining of a stakeholder management strategy for the assigned project or projects, and
  • Provide additional assistance to team members, management and consultants as appropriate.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A relevant third level qualification (degree in Community Development, Communications, PR, Marketing, or Business).
  • A minimum of 4 years relevant experience, including experience of working with the community and voluntary sector, and engaging members of the public.
  • Experience in external communications, including via social media platforms.
  • A track record of utilising excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills along with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and work on their own initiative.
  • An understanding of best practice in relation to working collaboratively with colleagues, customers and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • The following would be highly advantageous:
  • Direct experience of managing community benefit funds, corporate social responsibility programmes, or similar.
  • An understanding of the energy sector and the role of EirGrid.
  • An understanding of managing community impacts associated with infrastructure projects..
