Childrenswear Fashion Buyer

Please note all our buying roles require retail buying experience gained in a retail buying office. We cannot respond to applicants without this experience .

Our Client: Our client a leading fashion retailer is looking to recruit a Childrenswear fashion Buyer for their head office based in Dublin.

Role Purpose: As a Fashion Buyer, you will be responsible for driving sales and margin your category, in this case the Fashion categories. You will define the range; negotiate the terms and source new product while all the while looking at the big picture in terms of your brand position and strategic plan.

Areas of Responsibility

Profitability

Monitor and maximise profitability and cash flows of product lines and minimise investment in stock levels

Negotiate LTAs with suppliers and control receipt of payments on a timely basis

Forward Planning & Product Development

Monitor trends in consumer buying, patterns and preferences in order to identify new products

Probe competition to assess strengths, weaknesses, methods of merchandising and identify gaps in ranges. Develop an action plan to ensure we remain ahead of competitors

Sourcing & Supply

Identify and select new suppliers that meet standards of quality and cost

Negotiate with suppliers to ensure consistent supply of quality products at the lowest possible cost

Store Support

Provide information and guidance to store managers in relation to products, optimum layout etc.

Staff Development

Coach and develop staff through on the job training

Quality Control

Implement and maintain quality standards by agreeing Specifactions

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of Retail Buying experience
  • Experience buying Children's apparel preferred
  • Must have strong analytical, financial, strategic and planning skills
  • Must have a proven record of strong negotiating skills, with examples to substantiate
  • Must be a go-getter, with a "can-do attitude" and a true excitement for the business
  • Entrepreneurial minded, with a strong comfort of taking measurable risks
  • Strong team playing, clear communication, and relationship building skills are very important in order to be successful in our business
