Core Responsibilities/Attributes :
- Perform microbiological testing, including bioburdan, endotoxin and particulate testing of Raw Materials, Utilities, Environmental Monitoring and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs).
- The microbiology analyst is also responsible for micro organism identification testing. Testing is performed with adherence to standard operating procedures, guidelines and cGMPs.
- Support new product introductions, working with the Analytical Microbiologist to validate microbiological methodologies. This includes method development and verification in accordance with pharmacopeia requirements.
- Be familiar with and become expert in microbiological techniques and instrumentation, such as micro plate readers, colony identification equipment, micro pipettes, autoclaves, microscopes etc.
- Provide technical training to new laboratory analysts, through knowledge in a wide variety of assay methods, instrumentation and laboratory quality systems.
- A Diploma in Microbiology is the minimum requirement for this role; however a BSc or MSc in Microbiology or a related discipline (bio analytical sciences, biotechnology) would be advantageous.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar role in a regulated cGMP environment, preferably in a biotechnology facility with new facility/product introduction experience.
- Method Development Experience is required
