We currently require a Buying office experienced assistant Buyer for a Assistant Buying Managers role with one of our most Progressive Food Retailers.
You will have a variety of commercial responsibilities including:
Category Management
To drive and develop the sales and margin for all retail Stores.
Achieve the profitability & KPI's for an agreed set of categories, contained in the annual budget, specifically:
Achieve category sales targets by category
Systemic Categories sales review and follow up action plan.
Range review and develop key trading lines
Ensure an integrated category management approach.
Producing with business plans
Produce promotion calendar with reporting and monitoring for agreed set of categories.
Monitor and identify Gap opportunities based on with detailed market research (Nielson/ supplier data or equivalent) to drive sales.
New product development and first to market
To drive innovation and current customer trend into brand.
Identify & develop Private label.
Sales Focused Analysis
Develop the relevant elements of all Category Strategy, based on strong consumer, market and retail understanding the future direction of the Retail Offer.
Assist with annual budget planning with the intention of developing the sales and margin plans for the company.
Produce regular (Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly) reports to the business that focus on KPI's, KVI's, key margin drivers and gap opportunity analysis.
Supplier Management
Develop strong working relationships with all Suppliers ensuring that agreed service levels are achieved and monitor the delivery of agreed business plans and action any shortfall.
Identify on trend New product development and first to market
Negotiate effectively to ensure competitive terms are achieved with suppliers to include LTA's and rebates.
Produce clear and concise annual promotional strategic plans, funded by suppliers.
Store Developments & Standards
To develop and enhance in store standards, with the view to merchandising and promotions
To deliver uniformity of stores by ensuring agreed suppliers and stock listing are implemented as per plan-A-grams.
Critical Competencies:
Graduate education within a general business discipline.
Two years+ in a retail/convenience buying Management role in a dynamic fast growing business.
A proven track record of driving sales and achieving targets in a retail environment.
Previous experience working with retail operations teams to deliver an innovative category management offer.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proven commercial acumen to meet objectives and goals set.
Experience with a variety of categories.
Strong IT Skills (MS Word, Excel, Power-point).
Experience of using Space Management/Price Book systems or equivalent.
