Irish Lights is a statutory maritime all-island organisation, whose history began over 200 years ago, delivering an essential 24/7 safety and navigation service around the coast of Ireland, protecting the marine environment, and supporting the marine industry and coastal communities. Irish Lights is a public body, funded through the General Lighthouse Fund with reporting relationships to the Irish Department of Transport (DoT) and the UK Department for Transport (DfT). In line with the organisation’s mission to be a leading and innovative provider of reliable, efficient and cost-effective navigation and maritime services for the safety of all, Irish Lights, works closely with sister organisations Trinity House and the Northern Lighthouse Board in the UK to implement a co-ordinated approach to governance and risk management across the diverse range of its activities
