Production Supervisor
Location: Midwest Region, Ireland Reporting To: Operations Manager
The Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join their operations team. This is a key leadership position responsible for driving day-to-day production performance while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery, and cost control.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with a strong presence on the production floor, capable of motivating teams, improving operational performance, and delivering results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop production employees to drive engagement, accountability, and performance.
- Provide visible leadership and direction across production operations.
- Manage employee-related activities including scheduling, attendance, performance management, and employee relations matters.
- Oversee and optimise production workflow to ensure efficiency and output targets are achieved.
- Develop and implement recovery plans to address operational challenges and performance gaps.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Maintain high standards of workplace organisation and operational discipline.
- Ensure customer delivery requirements are met, including management of priority orders.
- Facilitate effective communication between shifts to support operational continuity.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
- Promote and uphold company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Key Performance Measures
- Achievement of production output targets.
- Delivery of productivity and cost-saving initiatives.
- Performance against safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency KPIs.
- Reduction of overdue orders and production backlogs.
- Improved labour utilisation and schedule adherence.
- Reduction in scrap, rework, and operational waste.
- Accurate and timely production reporting.
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, workflow management, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience driving Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Previous exposure to a unionised workforce.
- Knowledge of operational excellence methodologies and process improvement tools.
