For almost 60 years, this leading multinational pharmaceutical organisation has had an excellent reputation in Ireland as one of the country's longest established multinationals with a local footprint of over 500 people in Ireland and globally, employing over 5000 staff with revenues in 2017 north of 1 Billion. Manufacturing a range of leading branded pharmaceuticals including dermatological and thombotic products, Dublin is the largest and one of the most strategic of this organisations global manufacturing footprint within the organisations Global Product Supply. Due to organisational changes at the site, a requirement for a Technical Services Director (Engineering) has arisen at the site acting as part of the organisations Site Leadership Team.

The Position:

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of the Technical Services strategy, goals and objectives for the site, aligned with local and global goals.
  • Prepare, monitor and appropriately adjust the annual budget for Technical Services department.
  • Prepare an ambitious automation strategy for the site and implement related action plans in a timely fashion.
  • Put in place the most appropriate and cost-effective maintenance structure to support manufacturing operations.
  • Participate in validation activity, including reviewing and signing protocols and reports. Ensure that resources are sufficient to meet validation requirements or escalates gap for resolution.
  • Ensure Engineering and Facilities teams initiate and complete investigation, deviations, CAPAs, and Change Controls as assigned.
  • The Director will be a business partner to the other members of the Senior Leadership Team and will share responsibility for the delivery of the site goals and targets.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports so that they can deliver their goals and objectives.
  • Promote good industrial relations and assist the business unit managers in resolving any industrial relation issues that may arise.
  • Ensure that HVAC, utilities, process equipment and process automation are appropriately and safely maintained, validated and ready for manufacturing activities.
  • Manage all engineering and facilities work to meet and optimise manufacturing and during plant shutdown schedules, while maintaining a high level of GMP compliance and cost efficiency.
  • Work with Global Management to capitalise on international technical resources and promote team work between Group Engineering Departments.
The Person:

  • Hold a relevant 3rd level degree in and Engineering or related discipline.
  • Possess 5 years' experience in a Technical Service Management role with a background in a large multinational, within the pharmaceutical
  • Have experience managing engineering activities at a brown field or green field site is
  • Experience working to lean methodologies is
  • It is desirable this person has previous experience operating on a SLT.
  • Demonstrate the capability and credibility to challenge current processes and ensure site mind-set is constantly evolving to be a 'best in class'
  • Have the confidence to challenge the status quo and the creativity to develop different ways of doing
