Clinical Responsibilities
· Act as a ‘Named Nurse’ for a group of residents, assess, prescribe and evaluate care appropriately, ensure that care to all residents is of a high standard appropriate to their needs, administer all medications as prescribed.
- Have a RMN Nursing qualification
- Preferably has experience of caring for the elderly with dementia and dementia mapping
- Have an understanding of the minimum Standards
- Have a full and valid UK work permit
- Be registered with the NMC and have valid PIN
· You will also liaise with appropriate services as necessary i.e.: GP, OT, Physiotherapists, chiropody etc,
· Report or attend to any change in a resident’s condition,
· Act as a nurse mentor for students undertaking nurse training and complete mentorship training if required.
1. Ensure that personal performance and standards of care given are highest possible.
2. Update professional knowledge in clinical areas, research and technical advances relevant to sphere of work.
3. Provide professional support as required within the team/Healthcare setting.
4. Assist with developing appropriate nursing standards and participate in clinical audit and research as agreed.
5. Be aware of and work within the NMC Codes and Rules.
6. Adhere to the regulations regarding the Controlled Drugs Act and the policies on custody, storage and administration of all drugs and medications.
7. Ensure that safe custody of patient’s property in accordance with the local policy on same.
8. Ensure adherence to NMC, DHSS&PS, Brooklands Healthcare Policies and Protocols.
9. Participate in mentorship/preceptorship programmes.
Managerial Responsibilities:
· Ensure that nursing documentation and other records are accurate and meet NMC and Data Protection standards.
· Participate in the prevention and investigation of all accidents and untoward events including clinical incidents.
· Participate in systems for ordering/stock control/usage of supplies/drugs.
· Monitor, maintain and report defects of all equipment ensuring it is readily available for use at all times.
· Participate in clinical audit and professional research.
· To act on behalf of the Nurse Manager/ Deputy Manager/Sister or Charge Nurse in his/her absence and assist with the management of the healthcare setting.
· Maintain close links with nursing, medical and other professional disciplines involved in care of the residents and their families.
· Adhere to Brooklands Healthcare’s policies and procedures on No Smoking, No Alcohol, Health and Safety and other policies e.g. Control of Infection, Care of Patients Property/Valuables, and Reporting of Accident/Injury etc.
· Ensure adherence to Confidentiality code at all times.
· Ensure equality legislation is implemented.
· Monitor and report on patient’s conditions as necessary and maintain patient’s records as required. Ensure confidentiality of patient’s files at all times.
· Organise the admission, transfer and discharge of patients in accordance with Brooklands Healthcare policy.
· Be alert to signs of ill health or stress in staff within the healthcare setting and report occurrence of same to Nurse Manager/Sister/Charge nurse
Education and Training:
· Participate in the teaching of nursing students.
· Participate in professional and Brooklands Healthcare training programmes.
· Participate in provision of health education.
· Participate in mentorship/preceptorship programmes.
Communication:
Maintain clear channels of communication with appropriate staff.
Records Management:

Previous experience
· Minimum of two years recent experience in care of the older person
