OUR CLIENT IN CORK IS SEEKING TO RECRUIT A PRINCIPAL PRODUCT ENGINEER
Summary

Technical management of all outside suppliers of components and technology used to manufacture devices. Primary engineering interface to all outside suppliers for prototyping new products and ramping to production volume. Quality management of all material being manufactured by wafer fab, wafer test and component assembly. Define and manage acceptance standards for all major suppliers including review of all wafer test PCM data from foundry. Review, qualify and approve all process changes at suppliers. Perform periodic reliability tests and report results. Drive yield improvements and cost reduction programs at suppliers. Primary person responsible to identify root cause of quality and yield problems and develop action plans to address those issues
Essential Functions:


  1. Engineering interface to all contract suppliers delivering components and services including BGA packages, glass lids, wafer fabrication and wafer test. Resolve technical and quality issues. Develop with suppliers quality, reliability and cost improvement programs. Develop qualification programs for implementing new process and procedures.
  2. Primary technical interface to wafer foundry for manufacturing. Monitor, analyze and report on wafer acceptance test PCM data, approve acceptance of wafers and any process deviations. Work with foundry to identify yield limiting process issues and corrective action plan to address.
  3. Develop and manage qualification plans for new products including characterization tests and reliability tests. Manage reports and approve results
  4. Part of the product development team providing inputs into supplier capabilities, DFM and DFT. Review product development plans and identify new capabilities that must be developed to support prototyping and production.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  1. Comprehensive knowledge of Integrated Circuit CMOS devices and state of the art silicon processes. Understanding in detail of device parameters that are critical to control and can make judgments on wafer compliance.
  2. Expertise in chip level assembly from wafer saw, die attach, wire bond and encapsulation for high volume integrated circuits. Provide technical direction and expertise to manage suppliers
  3. Full skill set to support product development at suppliers including fast build of prototypes, qualification of new designs and transition to full production
  4. Develop and qualify new suppliers. Assess technical and quality capabilities, work to bring new suppliers into full production
Minimum education and work experience required:
  1. BSc, BEng. or equivalent degree is required
  2. 10+ years of experience in integrated circuit engineering – design, process, test or product engineering
  3. Minimum of 5 years as a product engineer managing complex CMOS integrated circuits in a production environment
