In partnership with our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, Cpl is pleased to announce this fantastic opportunity for a contract manufacturing technical manager.
The Job
Utilising the services of Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs) as an integral part of its strategic mandate to provide high quality cost efficient products to partners worldwide.
Reporting to the Plant Director, this is a new post within the company. This individual will interact with Supply Chain, Quality, Regulatory and Technical Affairs to ensure optimum performance of our network of CMOs with respect to quality of the product produced and reliability of its production.
They will be the main interface between the company and the CMOs and will represent the company to facilitate issue resolutions and efficiency improvements with the various companies.
Specifically this person will co-ordinate the resolution of any technical issues which arise in the CMOs which may hinder production outputs and schedule commits, or the execution of projects aimed at cost efficiency, improved regulatory compliance or product improvement. To this end they will be expected to spend time at the contract manufacturers site, assessing the problem and its potential impact, trouble shooting, advising on solutions and ensuring the issue is resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner. This will involve updating of all relevant departments within the company and co-ordinating the strategy to solve the issue with primarily the Quality, Supply Chain and Technical Affairs Department.
In addition they will set up formal reporting structures with all CMOCs on relevant KPIs and ensure this information is available and up to date as required. They will also when necessary accompany the Quality and or Supply Chain department on relevant audits and will co-ordinate the reporting of the findings along with follow up to ensure any necessary actions are completed. This person will become the subject matter expert (SME) on all aspects of the CMO management including in depth knowledge of all agreements in place.
This person will play a key role in strategic development of the CMO Management within the Group. They will also interface regularly with Corporate and may undertake project roles as determined by them.
The Person
This person must have seven to ten years relevant technical experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing including at least 5 years in Sterile Products, preferably within Production, with a Primary Degree in Microbiology. Post graduate qualification is also desirable.
Experience with dealing with and managing multinational Contract Manufacturers is also highly desirable as is familiarity with Technology Transfer, Supply Chain and Quality working practices. Some proficiency in French or Italian would be an advantage although is not essential.
The person must have a great ability to influence others as they will be dependant on many people and departments at different levels and in different companies in a situation where none of these people will report directly into the position.
They will have to gain the trust of the CMOs to ensure good working relationships and yet they must have the ability to be respected and authorative to ensure that objectives and performance are met so really critical to this job is to have an outgoing personality, good people skills, a good understanding of what is needed to ensure people deliver and a persistence that will enable them to get the results regardless of any obstacles placed in the way.
The successful applicant will be someone with an ability to wear many hats, sometimes at the one time and will be happy to expand the boundaries of the new role. They will be a motivated self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision while keeping senior management briefed as required.
