Key Attributes / Qualifications Skills.
• Degree in Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a test engineer in a predominantly analogue environment.
• Competence in “C” programming essential.
• Experience of leading a test engineering function an advantage.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
• Willing to innovate and take the initiative on new ideas and improvements.
• While test engineering is an essential part of the role initially, we are seeking a candidate with the potential to move into other areas of the business when a suitable opportunity arises. For example, general electronics skills and knowledge should be sufficient to allow expansion into product design in the R&D department. This will require an individual who is creative, versatile and has an aptitude for technical problem solving.
• Communications: Good record keeping and report writing skills are required. Fluent written and spoken English with grammatical accuracy is essential.
Role / Key responsibilities.
• Provide support for existing test equipment on site and at sub-contractor sites.
• Specify test equipment requirements for new products.
• Design, build and commission new test equipment.
• Lead a continuous improvement programme to maximise test yields and efficiency.
• Provide support to customers on test related issues.
• Debug and repair product to component level.
• Collect and present analysis of test data from local and remote sites.
• Co-ordinate with and support the Quality department on test related activities, e.g. goods inwards test, reject analysis, customer returns, management reporting.
• Support the R&D department by conducting product “type tests” in our dedicated test laboratory.
