Metrologist will be responsible for the creation, optimaziation, validation of new and existing inspection systems supporting the product from R&D to handover to manufacture.
Role:
+ Metrologist will act as reference point and expert in the R&D group on inspection techniques, equipment and technologies;
+ Prepares debugs, optimizes and validates inspection programs on a variety of CMM machines and automated optical equipment.
+Collaborates with multiple R&D teams on metrology and inspection methods and conducts technical and feasibility studies
+Analyzes new product prints during their development to identify the suitable inspection technologies
+ Plans and conducts engineering and metrology research including the identification, investigation and implementation of new advanced metrology and inspection systems and technologies;
+ Will determine and implement system design and programming approaches and parameters and conduct Gage R&R studies on new designs.
+Must be familiar with programming languages (C++, Fortran, VB, DMIS, etc.)
+Must be capable of spending long periods of time programming, debugging and validating complex inspection equipment
+Must be able to read and interpret detailed mechanical prints
+Must show high level of understanding of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 (or European equivalent)
+Excellent analytical skills
+Advanced PC skills, with focus on MS Office
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Degree in engineering, quality or science related discipline desirable.
Completion of external GD&T related course desirable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Previous experience in code programming essential
Experience in design / quality / manufacturing / metrology in a high tech engineering environment essential
Previous experience in Medical Device environment desirable
Previous experience with CMM desirable
Previous experience or knowledge of applied statistics desirable
Demonstrated Mechanical, Technical and Innovation Aptitude
Demonstrated ability to identify and challenge non-value-added inspection
