Sinéad Gaynor has been appointed as head of human resources with Waterways Ireland, the cross-border navigational authority for inland waterways, leading its people strategy. She brings 20 years of HR experience. She was head of HR with Elite Electrician Systems, and with Mallaghan Engineering, managing HR for 400+ employees in multiple jurisdictions. She has held HR roles with Almac Group, Cooneen Group and Acheson Glover. She began her career as HR officer with Fermanagh & Omagh District Council. She holds a Law degree from University of Bedfordshire, a certificate in Business Management from Liverpool John Moore University, and a Masters in HR from QUB.
Diarmuid Murphy has been appointed as director of sustainability and international markets with IOB, a financial services educator. He previously spent 23 years at the Central Bank of Ireland in its central banking and prudential pillars. He recently completed a three-year secondment in senior roles with the EU Commission. Prior to this, he was a head of function in the CBI’s international banking division, while also working in the market operations area of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Germany, and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC, USA. He holds a degree in Business Studies from UL and a Masters in Investment and Treasury from DCU.
Lucy Clark Dougherty has been appointed as general counsel with Eaton, the intelligent power management company dedicated to protecting the environment. She succeeds Taras “Terry” Szmagala Jr as executive VP and chief legal officer upon his retirement. She will serve as counsel to Eaton’s executive management team and its board, and will lead its global legal organisation. She joins from US powersports manufacturer Polaris, where she was senior VP, general counsel and secretary. She has also held deputy general counsel and leadership roles with General Motors, and served as counsel inside the US Department of Justice and as chief legal officer of the Department of Homeland Security.
Dana Kendall has been appointed as general manager of biopharma company AbbVie Ireland, whose commercial headquarters are in Citywest Dublin. She joined AbbVie in 2020, and led the launches of treatments for active psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. In 2022, she advanced to international marketing director for a key dermatology therapy. A Texas native, she has over 18 years of experience across sales, marketing, and leadership roles in therapeutic areas such as urology, oncology, endocrinology, and immunology. She previously held roles at Galderma Laboratories, inVentiv Health, Endo Pharmaceuticals and UCB. AbbVie’s five manufacturing sites in Sligo, Mayo, Cork, and Dublin employ 2,900 people in Ireland.
Kate English has been appointed as chief economist with professional services firm Deloitte Ireland, and will conduct data-driven research across economic and policy areas. She joined Deloitte in December 2022 to establish and lead its real estate research team. She previously worked with estate agencies, as an economist with Cushman & Wakefield Ireland, and as senior economist with Sherry FitzGerald. A native of New Inn, Co Tipperary, Kate is a recognised commentator on national media, offering insights on global macroeconomic trends, fiscal policy, capital markets, demographics and employment trends. She holds a Masters in Economics and a degree in Economics and French, both from UCC.
Pat McLoughlin has been appointed as general manager with Chanelle Pharma, a manufacturer of generic pharmaceuticals for human and animal health. He will oversee manufacturing, engineering, OPEX, supply chain, quality control and facilities. He brings more than 20 years of senior management experience within pharma, medical device and consumer healthcare, notably with B Braun and GlaxoSmithKline, where he led global manufacturing sites, while also spearheading business transformations, and advancing safety and compliance standards. His expertise spans business growth through strategic leadership, process optimisation, and team development. Headquartered in Loughrea, Co Galway, Chanelle Pharma employs more than 700 people across Ireland, the UK, Portugal and Jordan.
