EHS Specialist

An EHS Specialist / Advisor is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Cork based packaging solutions manufacturing client. This is a stand-alone position within a long-established facility.

THE ROLE:

*  Work with site management, teams and individuals in order to progress safe working practices and to develop risk assessments and safe systems of work.

* Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at the site and that the site is working in compliance with current Health and Safety legislation, best practice and approved codes of practice (ACOP).

* Ensure that the site is working in compliance with current Environmental legislation, best practice and approved codes of practice and that the site is not conducting any practices that could have a negative impact on the environment.

* Manage the risk assessment (RA) and safe working operating procedures (SWOP) process, ensuring that all Supervisors and Managers regularly review these documents in line with business standards and current legislation, guidance and ACOP.

* Deliver the site Health & Safety induction programme for all new starters, contractors and visitors to site.

* Manage the near miss and accident reporting processes for health and safety, and the environment, ensuring that all incidents are fully investigated and recorded in line with business standards and current legislation, guidance and ACO.

* Conduct internal audits of the site

 REQUIREMENTS:

* Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualifications (EQF Level 6).

* Ideally 1-2 years professional experience.

* Have a working knowledge of formal Management systems

* Active member of IOSH or similar accredited professional body

* Ability to communicate complex matters confidently and professionally at all levels within the organisation.
