Our client an established and high potential start-up medical device currently seeking a Senior Process Development Engineer to join their team. Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Process Development Engineer will play a pivotal role within the R&D function, working cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory teams. The successful candidate will lead the transfer, implementation, validation, and scale-up of highly automated manufacturing processes, with a strong focus on equipment development and optimisation

The Role

  • Design, develop, and optimise automated, scalable manufacturing processes and equipment solutions.
  • Lead equipment selection, specification, and integration in collaboration with vendors and automation partners.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with external vendors and subcontract manufacturers, ensuring performance, quality, and delivery standards are met.
  • Drive automation initiatives to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot and stabilise production processes, delivering continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Lead and execute process validation and equipment qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Champion Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimise performance and reduce waste. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support product development and commercial scale-up.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or a related discipline (Level 8 or equivalent).
  • 5–7 years’ experience in regulated medical device manufacturing or process development, with a strong focus on automation and equipment.
  • Proven experience working with external vendors, equipment suppliers, or contract manufacturers.
  • Strong expertise in process validation, equipment qualification, automation technologies, and structured problem solving.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project leadership skills.
