Senior Product Development Engineer

A Senior Product Development Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our Mayo based Pharmaceutical client.  This is a 12-month contractor position. You would be responsible for managing and executing multiple complex product development programs from concept through commercial launch in the Pharmaceutical industry.

THE ROLE

• Lead the end-to-end development of multiple new products, including design, process development, scale-up, and validation.
• Apply Quality by Design (QbD) and Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies to optimize formulation and manufacturing processes.
• Manage multiple development programs simultaneously, balancing priorities and resources across projects.
• Oversee technology transfer from development to pilot and commercial
• Ensure smooth process validation and commercial readiness.
• Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and root-cause investigations.
• Contribute to regulatory submissions  by providing detailed technical documentation and justifications.
• Identify and implement new technologies, materials, and process improvements that enhance product performance, reduce costs, and improve manufacturability.
• Mentor junior engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
• Support internal and external audits as a technical subject matter expert (SME).

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in pharmaceutical product or process development, with a demonstrated record of managing multiple programs.
• Proven experience in NPI ,process scale-up, and commercial technology transfer.
• Strong understanding of cGMP, regulatory requirements, and pharmaceutical lifecycle management.
