Senior R&D Engineer

A Senior R&D Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our multinational medical device client in Galway for a fulltime, onsite role for an initial 10-month contract.

The Senior R&D Engineer will be tasked with supporting the cross functional technical team and leading projects in all aspects of new product development engineering.

THE ROLE:

• Design and develop new medical devices from initial concept phase through design freeze, verification, and validation and finally into commercialization phase.
• Work from basic clinical need through opportunity assessment and device concept to prototype.
• Effectively represent the client while interacting with physicians to distil their needs into product requirements and concepts.
• Participate in technical innovation across the department.
• Identify and mitigate technological risks throughout the design process.
• Apply understanding of anatomy & physiology with engineering knowledge in materials and processes to produce working designs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Level 8) in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Science, or related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Medical device product development experience.
• Technical experience in DOE (Design of Experiments), Six Sigma, DFM, Problem Solving etc.
