The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer to join a high-performing supply chain team.
This role is critical in ensuring continuity of supply for raw materials and components, supporting production operations, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The successful candidate will take ownership of sourcing activities within assigned categories while driving supplier performance, cost optimisation, and risk mitigation.
This position offers a hybrid working model following probation.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and procure materials and components from approved global suppliers in line with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Ensure continuity of supply through effective planning, supplier management, and proactive risk mitigation
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships focused on service, quality, and compliance
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to deliver best total cost and secure supply
- Develop and qualify alternate suppliers to reduce supply chain risk
- Manage inventory levels to balance production requirements and working capital targets
- Review MRP signals and forecasts to prevent shortages and excess stock
- Maintain accurate supplier and material data within ERP systems
- Coordinate inbound logistics, including international shipments
- Support new product introduction activities and ensure timely material readiness
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Technical and Project teams
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and drive corrective actions where required
- Manage deviations, investigations, change controls, and CAPAs in line with QMS requirements
- Identify and deliver cost-saving and process improvement initiatives
- Track market trends, supply risks, and commodity insights impacting materials
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives through responsible sourcing practices
- Support organisational change and process transformation initiatives
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in procurement within a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. pharmaceutical or medical devices)
- Strong experience in raw material sourcing and supplier management
- Working knowledge of supply chain principles including MRP, inventory planning, and forecasting
- Experience operating within a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Strong ERP system experience (e.g. SAP or equivalent)
- Proven negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Professional certification (e.g. APICS, CPIM or equivalent)
- Experience supporting supply chain transformation or change initiatives
- Exposure to global sourcing and international logistics
