General Ledger Accountant – Galway City

Our client, a leading lifescience company based in Galway City, is looking to hire a General Ledger Accountant to join their growing finance team. This role offers excellent exposure to global operations, financial reporting, and compliance—ideal for someone looking to develop a strong corporate finance foundation within a highly regulated, fast-paced industry.

💼 Level: Newly qualified or up to 5 years PQE

🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including Balance Sheet and P&L summaries.
  • Support the annual statutory financial statement process and external audit activities.
  • Liaise with tax specialists to ensure compliance with VAT, corporation tax, and CSO requirements.
  • Contribute to SOX compliance and internal control processes.
  • Post and review monthly journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Continuously improve existing finance processes and drive efficiency within reporting cycles.
  • Ensure alignment with IFRS/local GAAP, internal policies, and corporate standards.

🎓 What We’re Looking For

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of technical accounting principles and compliance.
  • 0–5 years PQE—open to Big 4/Top 10 practice candidates or those with industry experience.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is a distinct advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
