PRACTICE ACCOUNTANT – ROSCOMMON – ONSITE (TAX FOCUSED)

A small, well‑established accountancy practice based in County Roscommon is seeking an experienced Practice Accountant to join its close‑knit team. The firm supports a loyal portfolio of SME and entrepreneurial clients across Ireland, combining traditional hands‑on service with modern, cloud‑based systems. This position has a particular emphasis on tax advice and compliance, complementing a strong internal bookkeeping and accounts team. The ideal candidate will bring solid technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor to owner‑managed businesses.

This role is fully onsite in Roscommon (five days per week, non‑negotiable), though a shortened or pro‑rata working day can be arranged to support work‑life balance. Salary is negotiable for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert tax advice and planning support to SME and owner‑managed business clients.
  • Prepare and review corporate and personal tax returns (CT1, Form 11) and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Support clients with tax queries, compliance issues, and Revenue correspondence.
  • Oversee and review statutory accounts prepared by the internal bookkeeping/accounts team.
  • Identify tax‑efficient strategies, reliefs, and structuring opportunities for clients.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Irish tax legislation and advise clients accordingly.
  • Liaise with Revenue, CRO, and external auditors on various client matters.
  • Guide and support junior team members in developing their tax and compliance knowledge.
  • Contribute to process improvement and efficiency within the practice.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CTA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Strong background in Irish tax compliance and advisory work within a practice environment.
  • Proven ability to advise SME clients across corporation and personal tax.
  • Practical experience preparing CT1 and Form 11 returns from trial balance.
  • Proficiency in Xero and other cloud‑based accounting software.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence to engage directly with business owners.
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and commitment to professional standards.
