About the Role
A leading company in medical technology is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join its team in Limerick. You will play a key role in designing cutting-edge surgical devices and pumps for end-of-life care. This is a critical hire, with the opportunity to lead two Junior Engineers and contribute to high-impact projects from concept to implementation.

Main Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in new and existing product development from concept through implementation.
- Drive circuit-level design — architecture planning, component selection, schematic entry, board bring-up, and integration of PCB and cable assemblies.
- Conduct EMC testing, including:
- Immunity, Capacitive Voltage Emissions, Current Probe Emissions
- ESD, Transient, and Radiated Emissions Testing
- Design and troubleshoot cable harnesses, power management systems, and 3-phase AC circuits.
- Design and validate AC/DC and DC/DC converters for regulated applications.
- Develop embedded firmware using communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
- Interface with sensors, motor drivers, and other hardware peripherals.
- Create electrical drawings using SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Support project teams through all product lifecycle phases, ensuring design quality, compliance, and delivery within schedule and budget.
- Evaluate designs against UL, IEC, FDA, and CE/EMC requirements.
- Apply FMEA and root cause analysis tools to identify and document system or component failures.
- Generate and maintain design documentation, including specifications, test protocols, and reports.
- Conduct technical design reviews to ensure design integrity and product safety.
- Develop and implement test procedures to verify operation and compliance with international standards.
About You
- Degree: Level 8 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 5+ years in electronics hardware design, testing, and integration.
- Technical Expertise:
- Digital and analog circuit design — microprocessors, analog analysis, simulation, and modular systems.
- PCB design and integration, schematic capture, and layout tools.
- Power systems: AC/DC, DC/DC converters, 3-phase AC.
- EMC testing: Immunity, Emissions, ESD, Transient, Radiated.
- Embedded firmware: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN.
- Hardware interfacing: Sensors, motor drivers, communication modules.
- Electrical CAD tools: SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical.
- Compliance knowledge: UL, IEC, FDA, CE/EMC.
Engineering Processes & Tools
- Design lifecycle management and documentation.
- FMEA and root cause analysis.
- Test protocol development, execution, and reporting.
- LabVIEW, circuit simulation, and board-level testing.
