The Opportunity
The Solicitor will primarily provide legal advice to the business on a wide range of complex land/property related issues particularly in relation to infrastructure projects. The Solicitor will also advise on commercial and regulatory matters as needed. 
As a member of the EirGrid Group Legal team, the Solicitor will provide legal expertise, guidance and support to the EirGrid Group in a dynamic environment. 
This role is ideally suited to a legal professional who enjoys working with the business in a high performing and fast-paced environment across a diverse range of legal matters. Teamwork is essential and the role holder will enjoy working with our multi-discipline teams across the Group and with key external stakeholders as required to effectively deliver on the EirGrid Group objectives.   
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with 1 - 4 years relevant Post Qualification Experience gained at a leading law firm or in-house, within the energy or infrastructure sector or a similar regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of legal advice in relation to land/property aspects of EirGrid Group infrastructure projects.  
  • This will include advising on landowner engagement, acquisition of land rights, exercise of statutory land rights, asset transfer, and land / access related disputes with landowners. 
  • Provision of legal advice to the business on commercial, planning and regulatory matters affecting the EirGrid Group, as needed. 
  • Provision of effective legal advice, support and guidance to the business, tailored to meet the needs of the audience and presented in accessible language that can be understood by all. 
  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to identify legal issues, solutions and efficiencies. 
  • Instructing external legal advisors as required, and managing relationships with such advisors with a view to maximising value for money and minimising overall risk and cost to the EirGrid Group. 
  • Participating in legal team initiatives and meetings and proactively adding value to the legal team and business including by presenting to the business in a targeted and commercially focused manner on legal issues.  

About You

  • Qualified solicitor with 1 – 4 years Post Qualification Experience in property/land law, preferably within the energy or infrastructure sector, or similar regulated environment. 
  • Proven track record of proactively organising and managing high workload and ability to effectively deal with a wide range of complex legal matters across a variety of legal fields demonstrating experience in at least a number of the following areas: Property, Planning & Environmental, Infrastructure Projects. 
  • Ability to provide sound commercial and legal judgment and to provide legal advice in clear and concise terms that is accessible to the recipient. 
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commercial focus and business acumen. 
  • Team player who can support and be collegiate with others in delivering company Strategy and objectives. 
  • Results driven, highly organised and efficient with an ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are consistently met.  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • A demonstrated ability to work on own initiative.
