Position Description

ESB’s purpose is to lead Ireland’s journey to net zero by delivering reliable, affordable, and clean energy for the customers and communities we serve.

ESB Facilities Management is responsible for delivering a broad range of Facilities Management (FM) services across 120+ premises, supporting over 7,000 people to ensure ESB Group can operate in safe, sustainable and high quality workplaces.

Services are delivered through large, complex and integrated national contracts and frameworks, managed centrally by the Facilities Management team.

We are seeking an experienced Vendor Relationship & Commercial Contracts Manager to establish and lead a Contract Management Centre of Excellence within Facilities Management. This senior role has ownership of the FM contract portfolio of c.60 contracts, with an estimated value over term of c.€150m, and will play a pivotal role in shaping FM contract strategy, governance and supplier performance.

This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the commercial contract strategy for a nationally significant FM portfolio, working in a highly motivated team and making a tangible impact on safety, sustainability, value and service excellence across the ESB Group

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the FM contract and vendor strategy, ensuring alignment with ESB Group and Facilities Management objectives.
  • Lead commercial and contractual governance across the FM portfolio, maintaining robust controls, compliance, and risk management.
  • Establish and embed best practice contract management frameworks, processes, and reporting, and oversee performance metrics including KPIs, SLAs, variations, and change control to ensure proactive issue management.
  • Act as the senior commercial lead and interface with strategic FM service providers, driving strong vendor relationships and performance.
  • Lead the development, procurement, and mobilisation of new FM contracts and integrated frameworks, collaborating closely with Procurement, Legal, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive cost savings, efficiencies, value for money, and continuous improvement across the FM supply chain.
  • Establish, lead, and develop a high-performing contract management team as a center of excellence within Facilities Management, providing clear and effective commercial, financial, and performance reporting to senior leadership.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • At least seven years’ experience managing large, complex service contracts within Facilities Management or a comparable asset-intensive setting, including extensive senior-level experience in commercial contract and vendor relationship management.
  • Demonstrable record of achieving cost optimisation, efficiencies, and enhanced service performance, underpinned by sound contract governance, compliance, risk, and performance management expertise.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams in demanding, multi-stakeholder environments, with advanced stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and influencing skills, as well as experience overseeing major tenders and managing multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • A relevant third-level qualification or equivalent professional experience is essential.
  • Proficient in IT systems.
  • Candidates must possess a full, valid driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in a regulated or governance driven environment, and familiarity with large framework contracts, is desirable.
  • Diploma in contract management.
  • Background in Facility Management or construction industry

Location 

This position will be based at ESB’s Head Office, Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2. However, travel to additional ESB locations may be required as part of this role.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

Reporting To

This role will report to Senior Manager Facilities Management, Enterprise Services.

Salary
€71,900 - €84,600 per annum (depending on experience)
