
Chief Executive Officer
Gas Networks Ireland operates and maintains Ireland’s €3bn, 14,725km national gas network—one of the safest and most modern in the world. Trusted by nearly 725,000 homes and businesses, their network delivers over 30% of Ireland’s total energy, including 40% of heating and nearly 50% of electricity generation.
They are on an exciting journey to repurpose their infrastructure to transport 100% renewable gases—in particular biomethane and green hydrogen—supporting Ireland’s climate targets and energy security.
The organisation is seeking an authentic and strategic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation through a once-in-a-generation transformation—delivering a fully decarbonised, renewable-ready gas network.
Reporting to the Board, the CEO will also ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations across all business functions, champion innovation, sustainability, and stakeholder collaboration and inspire a high-performing, inclusive, and future-focused workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set and execute long-term strategic goals aligned with national and European energy
policy.
• Lead organisational transformation while maintaining operational excellence.
• Build strong relationships with shareholders, government, regulators, and industry partners.
• Oversee governance, risk, financial performance, and regulatory compliance.
• Foster a culture of integrity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
Gas Networks Ireland invites applications from Candidates who have:
• Proven senior leadership in a complex, customer-focused organisation.
• Strong commercial, financial, and operational acumen.
• Demonstrated success in leading transformation and cultural change.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• MBA or equivalent qualification desirable.
• Experience in energy, infrastructure, or regulated environments would be an advantage.
This job will be based in Cork/Dublin.
