Apprentice Toolmaker - Dublin 15.

Our client is a leading international engineering company. We are recruiting an Apprentice Toolmaker for this company. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in precision engineering within a quality focused business. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training, both on site and at dedicated training centres throughout the SOLAS Toolmaking apprenticeship program. Upon successful completion of the program, they will become a fully qualified Toolmaker.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Machining and Machine Tool Set-up:
• Produce components to the highest cost-effective quality standards.
• Ability to meet exacting demands of high tolerance requirements.

• Competent Machine Tool operation.
• Appropriate application of Work Holding Systems including vices, soft jaws, jigs and fixtures.

Part Manufacture:
• Appropriate tooling selection relevant to manufacturing requirements.

• Tool condition/life cycle management.
• Inspection
• Appropriate application of inspection equipment.
• Where appropriate, incorporate the use of auxiliary inspection equipment (Height Gauge, CMM, Surface Tester, Shadow Graph, Vertex).
• Competent part drawing interpretation including geometric tolerances and limits and fits.

• Part Finishing
• Adhere to part drawing requirements and customer expectations.
• Comprehensive elimination of F.O.D (Foreign Object Debris). De-burring.
• Application of surface finish/condition as per work instructions and customer expectations.

CADCAM Programming:
• Competent navigation of CADCAM software as and when required.
• Adherence to standard practices regarding File Management System, Machining strategies and Part/Tool specific instructions.
• Responsible use of Software Tool Libraries.

Continual Improvement:
• Take part in continual improvement process.
• Be vigilant of opportunities for continual improvement throughout the working environment.

• Provide feedback, when necessary, on continual improvement activities.

Training:
• Take part in additional training courses as and when required.
• Develop and learn new skills and/or different machine tools/equipment as and when required.

• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft applications
• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Ability to follow procedures and work instructions consistently
• High level of care and responsibility when handling products and materials
