Environmental Officer - County Westmeath.

The purpose of this role is to work within the EHS department to develop, implement and maintain environmental, energy & sustainability management systems which achieve the relevant international standards for certification.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, energy & sustainability management systems which achieve the relevant international standards for certification.
• Manage all aspects of the site’s compliance with its Industrial Emissions License.
• Monitor all current and emerging environmental regulations and developing programs to ensure compliance.
• Maintain ISO14001 certification for the site’s environmental management systems and procedures.
• Manage all aspects of the Environmental Management system as outlined in the Environmental Manual.
• Develop & manage a comprehensive waste management plan for the site.
• Evaluate new processes and equipment for EHS impacts.
• Conduct internal environmental training (Company Induction, Toolbox Talks).
• Monitor– clearly communicate/escalate trends and anomalies.
• Prepare reports/metrics for all environmental & energy KPI metrics as required for internal & external review.
• Agree requirements with key internal and external stakeholders and a mechanism for tracking, escalating, and addressing environmental issues.
• Assess and monitor performance for all emissions and WWTP equipment and systems to ensure they are maximising performance against KPI's.
• Ensure WWTP operations are compliant with IED license requirements.
• Carry out site inspections and maintain housekeeping.
• Establish & maintain KPI’s as a management system which meets ISO50001 certification.
• Coordinate the company’s sustainability strategy with the EHS/Sustainability Manager.

Interested applicants should have:
• Degree in Environmental Science or similar
• Experience with IED licencing requirements
• Experience in manufacturing related industry is beneficial
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with clear direction and goals.
• Excellent communications skills
