Graduate Shift Manager - County Cork.

In this role you will initially undergo a comprehensive period of training whereby all elements of production and people management are learned and experienced from a day-to-day perspective in a high volume, best in class production environment.
Subject to the successful completion of the training period, the Graduate Shift Manager will be promoted to a Shift Manager position and become part of the core production management team. Depending on individual progression, training can be for a period of 1 – 2 years before advancement to a Shift Manager role.

As Shift Manager you are responsible for the overall leadership, direction and coordination of the Packing, Production, and Maintenance employees. The Shift Manager will manage shift employees to achieve key business objectives of product quality, order fulfilment, OEE, labour efficiency, health and safety and budget control. The Shift Manager will also act as cover in the absence of the Plant Manager and support the Plant Manager in Operations as appropriate.

Main responsibilities:

• Work with a Line Lead to lead the Shift Team to achieve production and packing targets/KPI's on a daily basis and lead smaller teams as assigned during the Graduate Programme
• Set weekly targets and objectives for the Shift Team
• Ensure the highest standards of product quality, integrity and hygiene are achieved and improved daily in line with quality and food safety standards
• Maintain excellent standards of Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Housekeeping Practice
• Monitor and control costs within agreed budgets
• Ensure the safe working practices and conduct of the team, contractors and visitors
• Ensure that team are properly trained and managed to work in a safe, quality conscious and effective way
• Execute meaningful Performance Development Reviews of teams bi-annually
• Drive systems and processes to eliminate customer complaints
• Maintain positive working relationships & ensuring effective communication at all levels
• Lead the team to optimise performance in terms of output, quality, costs, etc.
• Ensure all work areas and equipment within your control are regularly and properly maintained to deliver optimum performance
• Drive initiatives to maximise employee contribution and driving improvements in product quality and process efficiencies
• Liaise with QA & QC, logistics, technical and maintenance teams to achieve optimum results
• Interface with HR in relation to employee relations issues

Interested applicants should have:
• Minimum 2.1 honours degree in Food Science / Food Technology or a related discipline
• Experience in the food/healthcare/pharmaceutical manufacturing sector would be an advantage
• Experience in using Manufacturing Execution System (MES), SAP or other manufacturing systems desirable
• Knowledge of international Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Housekeeping Practice standards
• Knowledge of quality and food safety legislation desirable
• A strong understanding of Microsoft technologies
• Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills
