Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of equipment in a high-speed manufacturing environment. This role ensures optimal machine performance, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, be able to work efficiently under pressure, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support in a fast-paced production setting.

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance to ensure machinery operates efficiently.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective repairs in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance documentation and records.

  • Support production teams by delivering high-quality maintenance services.

  • Ensure all maintenance work is conducted safely, in line with site procedures and industry regulations.

  • Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.

  • Participate in an on-call rota (1 in 5 weeks) to provide emergency maintenance support.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting Qualification (or equivalent).

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working with high-speed manufacturing equipment.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently.

  • Flexible approach to tasks, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes.

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

This role requires a proactive and adaptable professional with a strong mechanical background, a hands-on approach, and a commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment.
