Sourcing & Procurement Specialist - County Cavan.

As Sourcing Specialist you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for critical materials and components. This role ensures the company secures reliable, cost-effective supply of materials such as electrical steel, copper, aluminium, insulation materials—while maintaining required quality, compliance, and delivery performance. The Sourcing Specialist collaborates closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Procurement to support both tactical and strategic business needs. Future and new materials required for product enhancement and increasingly sustainable manufacture is accomplished by closely monitoring market developments and new entrants to the supplier market.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for components.
• Develop category-level sourcing strategies to optimise total cost, ensure supply continuity, and reduce lead-time variability.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost), and corrective actions – keeping procurement personnel informed of performance.
• Conduct should-cost and market analyses to support negotiation strategies and cost-reduction programs.
• Support long-term capacity planning with key suppliers to meet production forecasts.
• Minimize supply risks through buffer strategies, multi-sourcing, and supplier development.

Procurement & Negotiation:
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and supply agreements.
• Ensure contract compliance and assist in renegotiation based on market movements
• Manage sourcing documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Partner with Engineering on new product introductions (NPIs), material specifications, and supplier technical reviews.
• Collaborate with Planning and Operations to ensure lead times, MOQ, and supply capabilities align with S&OP requirements.
• Work with Quality to coordinate NPNP, audits, change management, and non-conformance resolution.

Compliance & Risk Management:
• Ensure all sourcing activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations.
• Ensure supplier compliance with industry standards and internal specifications.
• Manage supply continuity risks, including material shortages, geopolitical disruptions, and transportation constraints.
• Maintain required documentation for audits, sustainability requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Analyse spend, cost drivers, supplier quotes, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
• Build and maintain sourcing dashboards to track savings, lead-time performance, and supplier scorecards.
• Monitor commodity market trends and advise leadership on impacts.

Qualifications & Skills requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful sourcing and supplier management and the ability to drive cost savings and build strong supplier relationships.

Education:
Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field.
Additional relevant courses an advantage (e.g. CPSM, CIPS, CPP). 

At least 3-5+ years' experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the electrical industry or a heavy manufacturing environment.


• Proficiency with ERP systems, spreadsheets, and analytics tools.
• Experience with strategic sourcing methodologies (RFx, TCO, supplier evaluation, cost breakdowns).
• Understanding of supplier, contract management and supplier negotiations and demand forecasting and planning to logistics.
• Use of analytical tools to compare performance to internal strategy and global index.

• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Analytical and detail orientated.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Relationship builder across the multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to flourish in a demanding environment, setting priorities.


• Ability to travel internationally.
• Hold a full clean driving license.
• Be confident in dealing with technical terminology.
