Stores & Purchasing Manager – County Clare

Location: Co. Clare
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Stores & Purchasing Manager to join our growing manufacturing operation in County Clare. This is a key position that supports both production and engineering functions, ensuring materials, stock levels, and purchasing processes run smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate will play an essential role in improving workflow on the production floor while maintaining robust inventory and procurement systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in inventory management and procurement within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience implementing or managing stock control systems is an advantage.

  • Previous experience within steel fabrication, sheet metal, or related industrial sectors is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review Bills of Materials (BOMs), manage inventory levels, and update BOMs as needed.

  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply, strong quality standards, and competitive pricing.

  • Create purchase orders and coordinate with production to ensure timely delivery of materials.

  • Receive, inspect, and approve all incoming goods.

  • Distribute materials to designated areas on the factory floor and work with production to optimise layout and flow.

  • Liaise with suppliers regarding defective goods and arrange credits, replacements, or refunds.

  • Set and monitor reorder levels, ensuring key items remain available without overstocking.

  • Allocate received materials to work orders, label, and issue to production as required.

  • Organise storage areas to maintain accurate stock levels and easy material access; carry out periodic inventory checks.

  • Coordinate storage, transport, and dispatch of completed orders, keeping costs and floor space usage to a minimum.

  • Ensure all documentation for incoming and outgoing goods is completed and forwarded for financial processing.

  • Maintain compliance with ISO and EN1090 factory production control systems.

  • A proactive and creative approach to process improvement and productivity enhancement.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with production and engineering teams.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in stock management and documentation.
