Systems Administrator - County Cavan
The Role
We are seeking a highly adaptable, solution-oriented Systems Administrator to join a dynamic and fast-paced organisation. This role requires a proactive individual who can design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure IT infrastructure aligned with business needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements, deliver effective infrastructure solutions, and manage external service providers to ensure high availability, security, and performance across IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with business units to define infrastructure requirements and design efficient, scalable solutions.
Implement, maintain, and support core infrastructure systems, including both hardware and software components.
Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure and system issues to ensure stability, reliability, and performance.
Ensure infrastructure environments comply with relevant standards and frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, NIS2).
Maintain clear and accurate documentation covering systems, configurations, and operational processes.
Contribute to ongoing digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption and modernisation projects.
Provide support, guidance, and training as required to enable effective use of IT systems across the organisation.
Coordinate with and manage external IT service providers where necessary.
Skills & Experience
Education & Background
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience and relevant certifications.
Technical Skills
Virtualisation: VMware
Backup & Recovery: Veeam
Networking: General networking principles, UniFi
Firewalls: Fortigate
Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Defender and Intune
Windows Client and Server operating systems
Active Directory and Entra ID
Databases: SQL Server (administration and troubleshooting)
Microsoft Azure
Familiarity with ISO27001 and NIS2 compliance requirements
Advantageous Skills
SAP and data management environments
Linux (Ubuntu and RHEL)
Monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix)
Python scripting and automation
SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services)
Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code
