 Job Description

Where You Would Work: Skibbereen, Co. Cork

To provide a Home Support service to an older person in their home to enable them to live with respect and dignity within their own home and community.

 Minimum Education & Skills required

  • A relevant FETAC Healthcare qualification or equivalent is desirable. 
  • Experience of working with elderly persons.
  •  Experience in the provision of home-based services.

 Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide a home support service to an older person.
  • Assisting client in all the activities of daily living including personal care and practical needs, monitoring client’s health and well-being, assistance with activities of daily living such as shopping, light housework, meal preparation and feeding. Medication prompting, transferring client with poor mobility and assistance with short walk, ensuring client safety through a high level of observation skills, accurate recording and reporting.
  •  To have a basic knowledge of domiciliary care, i.e. awareness of good hygiene practice, care of the skin and pressure areas etc.
  • To facilitate client to maintain and promote their independence.
  • Always carry out personal care with respect and dignity, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy with the customer.

 Additional requirements

  • Flexible with regard to working hours in order to meet the operational needs of the service.
  • Should have obtained relevant QQI Level 5 qualification in health care or must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role and be able to undertake the relevant QQI Level 5 qualification, within two years of start of his employment in our organization.
  • Experience in caring for others in a professional capacity is desirable.

 Salary:

€27,000 per annum
