Project Arts Centre (PAC) is seeking applications from skilled, experienced, motivated individuals to join our team at Ireland’s foremost contemporary arts centre.
Project Arts Centre presents hundreds of performances and visual arts events to the public each year and provide supports to artists and companies who are part of our Project Artists initiative as well as local communities and schools.
Located at 39 East Essex St, Dublin 2, Project Arts Centre has three performance/installation spaces; The Space Upstairs, The Cube, The Gallery, as well as a Bar. We have an online space, Project Portal. Project prioritises Equality Diversity and Inclusion.
This is a fixed-term, full-time contract for three years, with varied hours including evenings & weekends. It is a 40 hour week including breaks with a six-month probation period.
The Technical Manager reports to the Head of Production as line manager, and ultimately to the Executive Director.
Experience in theatre is essential and in Visual Arts beneficial.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
Supporting the planning and implementation of Project’s programmes/ installations
Liaising with incoming companies/ artists re technical requirements for events on-site
Providing technical support during the get-in, installation, presentation and get-outs
Supervision of incoming and in-house crews
Supporting effective communication, completing reports and implementing plans as required.
Setting & maintaining the highest standards in technical support, information, facilities and professional courtesy to all
Managing time, performance and capacity of Centre Technicians.
Preparing, testing and installing materials and venue equipment for events
Managing the cleaning, service and repair of technical equipment, backstage and storage areas with preventive maintenance and improvements
Re-configuring rigging and seating systems
Supporting wider staff with technical, maintenance or support needs throughout the building.
Being an active contributor to the staff team, staff meetings & meetings/ events
The ideal candidate will:
Be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative
Have experience in managing a team
Be a strong communicator
Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
Have strong working knowledge of typical in-house sound, light, & audio-visual equipment (installation, operation, maintenance & repair).
Have experience in a professional theatre environment and in visual art handling (installing, crating, packing etc.)
Have relevant professional qualifications and training including:
- Mobile Vertical (3a) Certificate
- PHEEC First Aid Training Certificate
- Emergency First Response Certificate
- PAT Certificate
- Manual Handling Certificate
- Level 8 degree in Technical Theatre
- Irish Drivers Learners Permit
- Stage Pass
- MEWP License
Have excellent working knowledge of current Health and Safety regulations
